The idea for Paradox started in July of 2015. Long time Anytime Fitness franchisees Mark and Kristie Stevens played their first escape room while on family vacation in Dallas, Texas. The whole family (all seven of them) had such a good time together that they knew as they were leaving it was likely to be their next business adventure.
For the next few months the idea sat dormant as the Stevens had other commitments. Finally in February of 2016, the Stevens picked the idea back up and began working on it in earnest. Within the next two months they found partners for their first location in Tupelo, MS, Kevin Doyle and Toni Gough. Shortly thereafter they partnered with Todd Knowlton to help with the production company. This led to creating and building their own props and games, as well as to selling them to other owners in the escape room industry.
Since that time, they partnered with Mark’s sister Sandi McGee and her husband Audwin to add a location in Florence, AL. They have also added additional team members and are preparing to open other Paradox locations.
